Restylane®, Juvéderm® and Perlane®
Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvéderm™ are cosmetic dermal fillers which are used to replace lost volume. These fillers are forms of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural complex sugar found in all living cells. Hyaluronic acid is one of the major components of the dermis connective tissue matrix. Unlike older fillers, they do not require allergy testing and are FDA approved. The difference between these fillers are the hyaluronic gel particle sizes, and the consistency of the product. Depending on the intended injection site, one product may be better suited than another. You and your doctor will decide which product is right for you.
Radiesse®
Radiesse®, is also a cosmetic dermal filler which is also used to replace lost volume. Unlike hyaluronic acid however Radiesse is made of unique calcium-based micro-spheres suspended in a natural gel. These spheres are carefully injected into the skin and with time, collagen forms around them. Radiesse is FDA approved to last longer than the hyaluronic acids and again requires no allergy testing and is a natural product.
These dermal fillers are injected to restore youthful contours to the skin to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). They can fill the deep spaces under the eyes, lift the face by elevating the cheeks and restore volume to the hands and chest to make them more smooth. Fillers can also give you what you never had but have always wanted such as more luscious lips. As you can imagine, dermal filler injections require much expertise and skill. Success from fillers are very much dependent upon the artist or physician performing the procedure. According to Dr. Richard Han, “Success from a filler is when the client is happy, others notice a difference (you look refreshed), but no one realizes that any injection was placed.”
